Alto Presbyterian Church

Alto Presbyterian Church was the first Presbyterian Church organized in Richland Parish Louisiana in January 1872. With 24 charter members, the church completed its building in February, 1873.

The yellow heart cypress lumber used in the construction has endured solidly for 131 years, and seems to be good for that many more. In 1992, the church was added to the Presbyterian Historical Register.

In 2003, the Alto Presbyterian Church united with four other churches in Franklin and Richland Parishes to form New Covenant Parish providing a cooperative Presbyterian witness to Jesus Christ.
